I'm moving slowly today - just not in a rush (unlike yesterday) and with a fairly open day ahead of me. I want to make my weekly portions of Ogre Juice, and I have a crazy,. almost pornographic, butternut squash to cube and bake, but that's all I'll be doing in the kitchen, and grocery shopping will be mininal. I do have a Priority Mail package to mail to a customer, and I hope to get some computer work done, but my actual "schedule" is rather open today. That's a nice change,
I usually bake my butternut squash with maple syrup, but I might add a bit of cinnamon to the recipe today for an extra zing. Yummy and the perfect Autumn food. |
Although we're not solidly in Winter yet, it feels more like it. We've already had our first snow - a messy one that actually was 2-1/2 inches in the Twin Cities, and 8.4 inches in Two Harbors, on the shores of Lake Superior. But here in the Cities, it's almost all melted by now. So we're much colder than we were a week ago, but not cold enough to freeze. I'll take that for as long as possible. We still have a LOT of leaf raking to do, and hopefully the cold from earlier in the week will have caused our trees to finally drop the last of their leaves, allowing us to rake and clean up the yard before Winter truly moves in.
The front of my holiday cards are complete, and I've decided on the images for the inside. I'm not as pleased with my cards this year and the inside in particular, but it's keeping with the theme for this year, so I'll deal. As I said, this year's card will be quite different for me - a balance between available time and the ability to get things out on time. I'm hoping that the time I lacked this year will return for next year's cards. I might have started early, but had to abandon that design decision because it was too time consuming. I'm going with Plan B, or maybe Plan C instead - LOL.
So, I'm going to wrap this up. I don't always have a lot to say, I guess, and today is one of those minimal news days. But OH ... I used my snorkel for the first time in the pool yesterday, and I LOVE it! It's absolutely fantastic. I found that I don't even need nose plugs (which were a major hangup for me), and I'm already looking forward to using it again on Tuesday. I'm going to get a LOT of use from it, and I'm really happy I bought two of them so that I have a backup when it dies in a few years after intensive use. Now to work on my kick-turn. I really need to get that nailed! Have an excellent Friday and I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini and חיים למען ישראל.
