It Was and Up and Down Day Yesterday - Altered Plans and Stuff

The only thing that worked well yesterday was cooking and laundry. Everything else just dissolved into chaos. The dental appointment got cancelled - the dentist got sick. It's been rescheduled to Friday. I remembered to pick up my blouse from the tailor, but ended up having to drive there a second time because he had inadvertently attached a cuff button to the incorrect side of one cuff. That needed to be redone - quick and easy, but one more thing,

It's pear season right now, along with the start of
apple season. I adore pears, and they bake up
so beautifully. I added plums to the cook yesterday
and the combo is outstanding!

I went to the grocery store, of course, and couldn't resist the ripe red pears. I also fell in love with some plums, So when I got home, I cubed those up and tossed them with spices, then baked them. They're absolutely lovely and in containers in the refrigerator. The other thing I cooked was a grouping of eight smaller stuffed peppers, which also turned out well. And of course, on Wednesdays I cook chicken breasts for dinner, so the oven worked quite hard yesterday. It was a cooler day, so that was just fine.

I had a group of eight smaller peppers to bake, along with
a batch of a new rice substitute that I bought to try. The
rice substitute was excellent and the peppers turned out
fabulous.

I went to the garden and collected what probably will be the last of the ripe Tabasco and Jalapeno peppers. I also gathered the three ripest Banana peppers. They're not quite ripe, but they are edible, most certainly. I have the Tabasco and the sliced Jalapeno peppers in the dehydrator as we speak.

I had never heard of "Right Rice" before. My local
grocery store just started carrying it. It's a vegetable
based rice substitute that looks and acts just like rice.
It's very tasty, it holds it's shape, and I think I'm
going to really like using it.

Of course there was laundry - three loads of that. Plus my day was made a bit brighter by my weekly conversation with Aearwen, who is settling in nicely in her new "mobile" home park. She bought one of those all-in-one washer/dryer machines, and is very happy with hos well it works. There's still a lot of unpacking to do, but she's starting to feel comfortable in her new place, and over time it will truly become a home for her and her son.

Himself was very moody yesterday, and being asked for
the repayment of the property taxes (so that I could
pay other household bills that have come in) just
set him off. "Le sigh".

DH and I had an argument last night, though, which left him steaming with the door closed. Total "le-sigh" on my part. He and I just don't think alike in many respects, and one of those aspect cropped up last night. So, he can stew all he wants, it won't change a thing. And I'll survive quite nicely, thank you very much. All of you have a wonderful day and think lovely thoughts for my friend Claire (Chickie Mama) whose birthday is today. I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini.
