Tooth News and Le Tour de France Begins - Whoot!

I had an appointment with my orthodontist yesterday morning. Because he was kind enough to schedule me for a Friday - a day when they mostly deal with emergencies ("My dog ate my retainer") and paperwork - I was able to get a very comprehensive exam. It's been seven months now (it hardly seems that long, but the changes have been vast). He's quite pleased with how things are going. He's working to fine tune things now - a millimeter here or there instead of massive changes. He changed the pattern of my rubber bands, added a cross-band for my sleeping times, and I'll see him again towards the end of August for two appointments a week apart.

These are NOT my teeth, but the cross band is similar
to the way I'm supposed to have one overnights now.
Apparently there is a one millimeter cross bite that he
wants to take care of, and this new band will help to
retrain my teeth and jaw to the new position. Where
I'm looking at my teeth with amazement, he's looking
at them with "What still needs improvement?" I think
I really like my orthodontist. LOL

Sharon, the second of these appointments is on August 30th, but it's at 7:30 am so shouldn't mess up with your plane schedule for your annual State Fair/Renaissance Fest visit. Just thought I'd better let you know, though.

So, my teeth are doing really well in terms of alignment. I have a dental appointment in another week or two, and I'll see then how they're doing generally. I'm pretty happy, so far, though.

Color is so important, especially in a small piece like what
I'm making for my holiday cards. So, I wanted the replacement
to be as close to the original color as I could get, without
the problems caused by the original bead's shape. I think I
found a decent compromise.

After the orthodontist and a quick run for groceries, I headed home to make my weekly portions of Ogre Juice, and then I settled down to my beadwork again. I had one color in the sequence that I wasn't happy with. I adored the color - it was perfection. But the bead itself was not working well in the pattern - it was slightly larger and blockier, and was fighting me every step of the way. Fighting me for a single piece isn't a problem. Fighting me for 20-50 pieces ... yeah. That's not allowed. I chose several possible replacements at the shop on Thursday and tried the one I felt was the best fit on Friday. It works quite well - not quite a vibrant, but much easier to use. I was able to get several panels done, so I was quite happy by the end of the day.

Le Tour Stage 1 is in the Spanish Basque country. Hilly,
and probably quite beautiful, but not a super challenge
at this point unless weather plays a role.

ALSO, today begins the next epic saga - Le Tour de France kicks off today for Stage 1, beginning in the Spanish Basque country. I'm giving you the Stage Profile maps for Stage 1 and Stage 2 (Saturday and Sunday) and I'll be posting the Stage Profile maps every day throughout the race. Whoot! I'm so excited. Le Tour is one of my favorite sporting events.

On Sunday, Stage two will challenge the riders again, with
the longest stage of this year's route. Between the steep
hills of Saturday and the length of Sunday, we might already
be seeing some interesting gaps in time appear.

So, it was a rather boring, but good, day all around. They can't all be earth-shaking - LOL. Hope you all have a lovely weekend and I'll be back on Monday. Slava Ukraini.
