Today is my friend and fellow swimmer, Rosemary's, birthday. I won't ask her age, she's older than I am and I'm old - LOL - but she's a spitfire. Not much gets her down. She's in the swimming pool five days a week, Monday-Friday. When I was first relearning how to swim and didn't have much stamina, I swam in the lane next to her and she was my inspiration. Now we've been friends, swimming in adjacent lanes for several years and she's still an inspiration.

He planted a row of Celosia near where he planted my four Lantana plants. We should have a wonderful spurt of color in that flowerbed this year. |
As with many of us, age isn't kind. She's slowed down a bit, and has been dealing with joint issues that have moved her away from full motion swimming into using a kickboard and kicking her way through her 40 minutes. But that's hard to do. I have a terrible time just kicking my way through two laps. I'm very slow as a kicker. She gets some decent speed up without using flippers to increase her propulsion, and does it for a long time. I think her doctor finally gave her the go-ahead to start S L O W L Y increasing her arm movements, but I suspect she's a bit shy about that. Once bitten by pain, it's avoided when possible.

He planted two Dahlias - a red and orange one, and one in the purples. We haven't had these before, but I think they'll be outstanding. |
I thought I'd sent a bunch of photos to my main computer so that I could share the garden with all of you, but I'm not seeing them, so I'll have to send them again later today, and perhaps tomorrow I can give you beginning shots of our garden after DH finished planting the many plants we purchased on Mother's Day. I know it will be spectacular, if the deer don't eat the blossoms (as they sometimes do). It's lovely to see a garden of green things and deep, dark dirt, and the occasional bright pop of color. It was a very long winter - turning into the third snowiest winter in the history of the Frozen Northlands. A total "Ick", but one that I'm glad to see behind me. I'll try and get some photos together tonight, and maybe tomorrow my post will once again be peppered by pretty things.
Today I'm just showing a few of the types of plants DH planted this year. It should be a good year for blooms, and he also planted me three tomatoes and three varieties of hot peppers. Yippee! So, on that note, I'm gathering my stuff and heading to the swimming pool. Have an excellent day and Slava Ukraini.
