It's Darned Cold But It's a Day Off

It's a day off today, and I'll be busy, but I'm not 100% sure what I'll be busy with. It's COLD - like in your bones cold. It was -16 F (-26.6 C) when I awakened. Now, almost two hours later, it's actually warmed up to -14 F (-25.5 C). Whoopie! It's a heat wave - LOL.  Checking the Weather Channel on my phone, we're supposed to finally get above 0 F in the early afternoon and will continue warming up throughout the nighttime hours. I wish I could just stay indoors today, huddled in front of my computer. But, I do have a few things that have to get done today before I can cocoon at home.

I'll be bundling up today. Two layers minimum, my long
down coat, my balaclava AND a hat on top of that, and
my new split-finger mittens that DH "got" for me for a
holiday gift. Well, he actually got me the balaclava I had
asked for, which came with a $30 gift card that I used for
my new mittens. A total win for those gifts.

I need to drop a few things off at the shop before they open - two full water jugs (the water there is rather poor quality for drinking), some printed price tags for products since our printer at the shop won't work properly on thicker paper stock any more, and a run of business cards since we're almost out of the current batch. But once I have those items dropped off, my day is mine. I want to get some vegetables for my nightly salad, and I need to buy a couple of items at my local office supply company. Fortunately, both venues are in the same shopping area, so it'll just be a brisk walk from the car to either or both of them.

I've printed the store's business cards for years. When
I first opened, I had a design and print shop two floors
below me and I hired them to develop my logo and
do my printing. But as printers got better and I moved
locations, I switched to producing them myself. It's
a much less expensive alternative and I like my
color business cards.

I've been reading voraciously, of course, because that's what I do. But I've been reading books that are, for me, a bit unusual. I'll wait for a week or so before talking about it, but here's a clue - it's NOT fiction! For me that's incredibly rare. I'm deep into a rather disturbing book now, but really can't put it down. I promise ... more next week when I've finished my current book and have started the last of the set of non-fiction I have on my TBR list.

The last book of my four non-fiction books
of my TBR list is "Spare" by Prince Harry. I
still have more than half of my current book
left to read before I can start it, though.

My current book is gripping, but it's a
hard read because of the subject matter.
I can't just dive into it and lose a few
hours, I have to read it in smaller spurts
because I get a bit overwhelmed.

So, as much as I would LOVE to be nice and warm in my computer room, dealing with the various things I have pending for my computer work today (lots of stuff for personal income taxes - oh joy!), I'll have to be outside for a little while. I have to remember to grab a folder from the shop to collect the prior year's invoices and statements in. At least I remembered to write that down, so I have a chance of remembering - LOL.

If I don't write something down, I forget it. I've got
several notes attached to the back of my phone for
things I have to remember to do/get today. I only
want to go outside ONCE. I'd much rather cocoon with
my little heater in the computer room (the warmest room
in the house).

I hope all of you are a bit warmer than I am, or if you're not, that you're bundled up appropriately or able to stay home for the day. Tomorrow will be better, but tomorrow I'm back at work and won't have the time to do today's errands. Thus - needs must! LOL Have an excellent Friday and Slava Ukraini. I'll be back tomorrow.
