The Super Bowl Teams Are Decided Now - Go Eagles!

It was a wonderful Sunday, even if the Cincinnati Bengals didn't win their football game. The Philadelphia Eagles won theirs, in a great game, so I was semi-happy. My day of football would have been complete if Kansas City had NOT made it to the Super Bowl once again, but Shiremom's Dad's team, the Eagles will be there, and I will be cheering them on in two weeks.

I'm absolutely delighted that the Philadelphia Eagles
are going on to the Super Bowl to represent the
National Football Conference. Bravo on a well-played
game against an outclassed San Francisco team.

This coming weekend is Pro Bowl for football, and it might be a lot of fun for a change. It's usually a rather staid and boring event with a lot of players (well deserving, of course, but still ...) coming together to play a rather limp football game. The season is over for all of them, and they don't want to be injured before the next season begins, so it's a ridiculous game. This year will be different.

The upcoming week is Pro Bowl week for football, where
those players who are not in the two teams playing the
Super Bowl will be playing and celebrating the end of
another season. Having Eli and Peyton Manning as coaches
of the AFC and NFC opposing teams should be fun.

Instead of playing a standard football game, switching players out after each quarter or so to enable everyone to be on the playing field at one time or another, they're going to be playing a game of "Flag Football". Now, for those of you who may not be from the USA, or know what flag football is, it's the type of football game that families or next door neighbors or neighborhood kids would get together and play. It can be rough and tumble, but more often it's slip and slide, twist and turn, and dirty plays are acceptable and almost expected. With the two teams being coached by Eli and Peyton Manning, it's sure to be fun because we'll get some sibling rivalry in the game too. I'm actually looking forward to the "off week" before Super Bowl takes place.

Hockey Day Minnesota is annual and always fun. The actual
"Day" was Saturday, although the event started on Thursday.
For four days there were a LOT of hockey games played on
White Bear Lake's frozen expanse. It was really COLD too.
I don't think I could have made it through a game outside
for this year's events. Still, Saturday was a lot of fun with
broadcasts of several youth hockey games, culminating
with the Minnesota Wild's win that evening. Go Wild!

The rest of the weekend was taken up by hockey. Every year Minnesota has a multi-day event during Winter Carnival called "Hockey Day Minnesota". There is a single day designated as "Hockey Day", but it's actually a multi-day event with multiple hockey games and events celebrating the sport. Saturday was the Statewide "Hockey Day Minnesota" with amazing televised games all day and into the night. It was COLD - extremely cold, but I was working at the shop and had my new heater up and running. I was actually quite comfortable because of my heater. It's my new best friend - LOL.

I bought myself a ceramic heater for the shop from
Amazon and it arrived on Friday. I got it set up
and tested it out on Friday, and it became my new
"best friend" on Saturday which was a wicked-cold
day. It kept me toasty warm at my desk, when I
would normally have been completely miserable
with the cold. DH is less than impressed that I
bought a heater, but he huddles back at his desk
using one all the time!

So, sports were the focus of my weekend, and that was just fine with me. I'm hoping to watch at least some of the Pro Bowl Flag Football game on the upcoming Sunday, and then, of course, it's time to focus on Super Bowl once again. Hockey games will be interspersed because we're in the middle of ice hockey season just now, and it's always fun to watch. So, I hope all of you have a fabulous and fantastic Monday and I'll be back tomorrow.
