Winter is Here - Snow and Cold Is Finally Arriving

We're under a Winter Storm Watch today - it's blared in red across the top of my phone. Looking at the specifics, we'll start getting snow about the time I leave the gym to return home, and the snow will continue, heavy at times, until mid-afternoon. We won't get the 6"+ that other parts of the state will, but we should see 3"-4" out of this. I'll be shoveling a lot at the shop, and if we're really slow, I might get out to the parking lot to brush off Chickie's and my cars before it gets dark.

So, this is the forecast as of four hours ago. I'm in the
upper right portion where the temps are 28 and 33 (I'm
in the 33 degree portion). But just look at what's coming
along from the west. All of that lavender and purple is
heading right for us. We're going to be COLD for the
next few days. Bleh! Add the snow and the need
to shovel to this, and I'll once again be wondering why
I'm living up here - LOL.

After months of patience, I finally contacted my landlord last night about our security lights. We have a security light above our back door, and the veterinarian next door also has one above theirs. Both of the lights are non-functional right now - probably needing new bulbs. I had texted my landlord about ours more than a month ago, but hadn't heard anything. However, when we leave the shop now, it's dark outside, and our parking lot has no direct lighting except for the security lamps. We need new bulbs, or if it's not bulbs, then they need to be fixed. It's not a bad neighborhood, but it's unsafe to be walking out into the dark for a crew that is 90% female.

Our security light, quite similar to this one,
isn't lighting up, nor is the one next door to
us at the veterinarian's place. That leaves
the parking lot in almost total darkness - very
unsafe for all of us when we close our
offices to go home for the evening. The
landlord had better get these fixed ASAP.

So, I'm just concentrating on the weather right now. I did get the front of my cards painted, and I've started on the interior panel. I haven't gotten very far with those yet, though. That's on tomorrow's agenda. It's not horribly time-consuming, but there are 50 cards to do, so it does take some time. My goal is to have them in the mail by the end of the week. We'll see. It might be next week before they actually are sent out. Still, they'll be out before my firm deadline of Solstice, so I consider it a possible win. I can't count on that win until I've actually finished the task, though.

Even though Charles Schulz hated St Paul, Minnesota,
it's where he grew up. He wasn't fond of our
weather at all, though, and moved to California when
he could, rarely returning to the Twin Cities. He totally
understood snow and cold, though. Anyone growing
up here would never forget those lessons.

So, I'm off to the pool, grateful that I won't have to shovel until I leave for work later this morning. Tomorrow might be a very different story, although this band of snow appears to be fast-moving. Then we'll get hit with the cold air. Time to bundle up, people. Winter is here (at least it's here in the Frozen Northlands). Have an excellent day. I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini.
