It Was A Lovely Day Off - Now I Need More Tea (and More Time...but THAT's Not Going to Happen)

I hope all of my readers had a lovely weekend. DH and I settled down into a Sunday filled with football during the day and ice hockey at night. Amazingly, in a fabulous game, the Vikings pulled off the win - barely. It was an "on the edge of your seat" game and was well worth watching. In hockey, the Wild pulled off a tie, which led to a tie-breaker, which, unfortunately, we lost. But, at least we got one point out of the contest, and we'll have to be content with that. All in all, it was a low-key day and DH and I actually got along for a change, so it was quite pleasant.

The Wild may have lost the game in OT, but Kirill
Kaprizov made our only goal in the shoot-out. He's
really come into his own this year - matured very
well and is a real plus for the team. I wore my
Kaprizov jersey yesterday too, so everything was
perfect (even if we only got a point from the game).

Today begins another week, and Thanksgiving is at the end of next week. I'll send out my "Black Friday, Small Business Saturday" email to our customers today, and we'll make sure that the many customers we have who do not get email any more (or have changed email addresses) can download it while they're in the store and still use the large discounts on their purchases. I should use email and social media more for the shop, but frankly, just don't feel like it, nor do I have a lot of extra time to devote to it. I'll put our holiday decorations up as soon as Thanksgiving is over. I've always been a firm believer in "one holiday at a time" - another thing that really doesn't work well with today's shopping climate.

I guess I'm a bit "Old School" in many respects, although
that's not unexpected given my age. Still, I'm pretty
content not being cutting edge. I have my own life, my
own statements and my own look. It's distinctive, it's
pretty darned awesome, and it's 100% me. Not too bad,
all things considered.

I guess I'm totally old school, and that's not a bad thing, but it can be frustrating. If I was 25-30 years younger, there are a lot of things I could and would do for the shop that would bring in new business, but I'm simply not willing to put out the effort in my late 60's that I would have in my late 40's.

I love using the Tim Holtz Distress Ink line. I don't have
all of the colors (although that would be pretty
awesome), but I do have quite a few of them, and
think I have plenty for this year's cards. The inks give
a lovely rustic look and that's exactly what I'm looking
for in my cards this year.

I've pulled my inks and my cards and they're sitting here next to my computer station. I'll start working on those on Wednesday - I need to finalize my color choices and decide exactly how to tackle this aspect. It's tricky to water color on light-weight paper, but that's my next challenge and I'm sure I'll manage somehow. At any rate, work progresses and the cards will be mailed soon. My temporary deadline is December 1st, but that's not a firm deadline. Things can be before (preferred) or after (not as preferred) and still be within my deadline of being mailed no later than Solstice.

Oh dear, I need more tea. There are a few things in my
mornings that are essential - tea is one of mine. I'm
wrapping this up and putting on the kettle.

So, on that note, I'm out of here. I need more tea and I need breakfast. I've been slowly eating the brownies I made last week, and I'm looking forward to making the Gluten-free Blueberry Muffins on Wednesday. I also found a lovely recipe for a Gluten-free Lemon Blueberry Danish that I think will work for me, so I'll be trying that later on - maybe for Thanksgiving weekend when I'll need that little bit of a push while I work my Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sale dates. Have an excellent Monday and I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini!
