A Hawk, A TV Show and Your Votes - Everything Is Awesome Right Now

DH and I spent a lovely Sunday outside on the patio. We saw a hummingbird at our feeder, our day-lillies and Asiatic lillies are in full bloom, and to cap off the afternoon, we saw a hawk in one of our Eastern trees. The hawk has been around my house for a while now, and we're speculating that it might have a nest nearby. It's lovely to see it. I think it might be a Coopers Hawk - they're common in our area in the summer months. No matter what the breed, however, we were thrilled to see her so close to the house. (I called it "her", DH called it "him". Sexual dimorphism hard at work - LOL.)

I've been seeing a hawk around our back yard for a couple
of weeks now. She seems to be quite comfortable in our
area, and probably has a nest nearby. I think it's a Coopers
Hawk, although I haven't gotten a good enough look at
her to be 100% sure.

Sharon, I know you read my blog. So ... I found the perfect gift for your birthday, but it's being shipped to me from Ukraine, so I won't be getting it until closer to mid-August, at which time I will forward it on to you. Sorry it's going to be late, but I love helping small businesses in Ukraine right now, and this was truly the perfect gift for you.

I'm thinking some round glasses like
the Minions use might be perfect for
me - LOL. It's certainly something for
me to think about.

So, onward ... I ordered one set of new eyeglasses from Zenni last week, and I'm thinking of ordering a second pair, just for a fall-back. The first pair is a bit more "artsy", but I'm totally thinking of going Minion for my second set - round. It's tempting. I haven't placed the order yet, I'm still thinking about it, but it would be rather fun.

There are some spectacular mountains in Wyoming, but
this one in the background is certainly not one of them.
This is totally from New Mexico - I recognize the area.

DH has been using his new tablet a lot. Once he downloaded Peacock onto it, he found the joys of watching streaming shows and videos, and he dove into "Longmire" - a modern western supposedly set in Wyoming. He was laughing yesterday, telling me that although it's supposed to be set in Wyoming, it was definitely filmed in New Mexico - that he recognized a lot of the landscapes from our former state throughout the show. We both found that amusing - why not just have it as a western set in New Mexico since they were going to film there anyway? Rather silly. I might have to watch some of it just to see New Mexico again - I get homesick sometimes.

I've survived another vote and live to write another
tale. Whoot! I'm quite pleased about that, and thank
all of you who were kind enough to vote for my
dark and gritty tale. I'm pretty sure this next prompt
won't be as heartwrenching.

I survived another vote in LJ Idol, and thank those of you who voted for me. We ended up losing three people from the group this week, and I'm breathing a sigh of relief that I'm still in the game. I write a bit differently than many of the others - less personal experience, more fictional. It's my preference. But, the story that got the most votes this week most certainly deserved it - it fit the prompt perfectly.

Gastric bypass surgery has been used for many years
for weight loss. ChickieMama wouldn't have the
surgery for that reason, but it seems to be what her
doctors will probably recommend for her cancer treatment.

So, I'm out of here, ready to start another week. ChickieMama goes back to Mayo today. It is possible that they may perform a gastric bypass operation on her to allow complete removal of the cancer they found a few weeks ago. Everything it still up in the air, but it's looking like that might happen. It's not the end of the world, and it's a common surgery, but I'm sure she's nervous about everything, so kind thoughts sent her direction would be appreciated.

That's all for today. Have an absolutely fabulous Monday and I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini.
