Today We're Getting Our First "Big Blow" - I'll Be Shoveling Every 1-2 Hours All Afternoon

We're scheduled to get our first serious snow today, with a Winter Storm Watch scheduled from noon today until 6:00 am tomorrow. We're expected to get anywhere from 6-14 inches of snow during this stretch of time. I'll have a bunch of snow to shovel tomorrow morning to get to the shop. I'll have to remind DH to close the shop early if the snow gets too bad this afternoon. With the truck, I'm pretty sure he'll get around fairly easily (although I don't think he's put his weights into the truck bed yet), but the roads will be a mess, and Chickie has a much longer drive home than we do.

We're expected to get anywhere from 6-14 inches of
snow between noon today and 600 am tomorrow.
That's a lot of snow to shovel. I'd better see if I can
find the directions for the snow blower, although if I
go out every two hours to shovel, I can usually keep
up with it too. The overnight snow will be a PITA,
but I'm not in a super rush on Saturday mornings.
The hardest part will be shoveling at the shop tomorrow
morning. That's always a PITA until I can get some
walls against the snowplow scree established.

I have no idea how to operate the snow blower. I think the directions are in the kitchen drawer along with the directions and warranty information for our other appliances. I'll probably check, because if I can snow blow before he gets home, I'd love to do it. I have a feeling just going out to collect the mail might be an "adventure".

Snowplows are essential up here, and they do a great
job keeping the roads cleared. We're on a major side
street, so we're cleared numerous times. Getting the
scree up from the end of the driveway and from the
sidewalk at the shop is really difficult. I'm not as
strong as DH, who manages to get through it fairly
easily. I build walls along my sidewalk at the shop,
and those snow walls help a lot, but early in the
season, the walls have yet to be built. I need my
walls!

I got quite a lot of artwork cling-wrapped and sealed yesterday afternoon. I'm quite pleased with what I got finished. I need to get another roll of shrink wrap ordered ASAP. I'll try to get that going today because I need it quickly. I'm also trying to find another heat strip for my sealer - it's a rather specialized piece of equipment and the bottom really needs replacement. I know they can be replaced, just need to find the part.

I have a complete professional framing studio, I
used to do a lot with artwork. I have one of these.
It's not called a "Super Sealer", but the appearance
is identical. I'll have to search the web to find the
bottom bar replacement. I know it can be replaced,
and it really needs a new strip. It holds
and seals shrink wrap up to 40 inches wide.

Finally, holiday cards have started to arrive. I've had several of my relatives text me and thank me for this year's card (it's always nice to hear from them), so keep your eyes open for your envelope. I did get them out a couple of weeks later than usual this year, so also keep that in mind. It's a good thing I don't send "Christmas" cards - I guarantee they would be late. Sending general Holiday cards, however, means they're never truly late because there's always another holiday coming up.

My mail carrier at the shop, Jean, won't be very happy
with the conditions this afternoon. My mail carrier
at home might find it challenging to get his truck through
the route by the end of it, and we're the last house he
delivers to. It'll be a toss-up whether I'll get mail
today or not. I will have to shovel out the street in
front of the mail box. I'll be getting a lot of exercise
shoveling snow today.

Have an excellent day - stay warm, stay dry and be kind. I'm going to swim, then I'll "batten down the hatches" and get ready for our first serious Winter Storm Watch of the season. "le sigh, le sigh" LOL I certainly plan on being back here tomorrow, snow or no snow.
