Paying Attention to Details and Playing Chauffeur - My Life As Of Today

Yesterday was packed with details - swimming, grocery shopping, getting my next four Alkagizers made, working on the next stage of my holiday cards, talking with Aearwen for a delightful hour of conversation, and finally dinner and a bit of relaxation before falling into bed again. I did get the next stage of my cards completed by the end of the day, and everything is in the bin, tightly wrapped and immobile allowing the glue to set until Friday when I will start to punch and tie. Since the glue is brittle and will crack when flexed, that final stage of punching and tying decorative cording will be essential for the longevity of the card.

Success lies in the details. I've run out of time to add
one more thing to the cards, but I may still be able to
push it through at the last minute ... maybe. It's just a
small detail, and only I will know it is missing. I can
live with that.

This week begins our first of three weeks of Sunday hours. We're only open from noon until 4:00 pm. (We almost decided to skip the Sundays altogether, but decided we might as well be open). It's never our favorite thing to do - it's our one day to relax, and now we won't be able to. But we are taking two three-day off stretches for Christmas and then again for New Year's. In it's own way, it will all balance out.

DH has a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. I'm not sure if
I would choose another Toyota when/if he decides to
upgrade. We love the exterior, and the truck bed is the
perfect size, but the interior of the truck is crap and the
computer screen sucks. The technology is very old-school,
quite dated. As I've told him many times, "If Mazda
was making a truck any more, I would probably have pushed
you in that direction." He needed a smaller truck because our
garage is only so big, so that limited our choices.

Today's schedule is a bit hosed. DH has an appointment for the truck at the dealership for maintenance and a general check-over. That means we get to drive over to Toyota early this morning and drop off "my" truck, then we'll go back home where I will drop him off and continue on to the shop. Tonight, when I get home, we'll reverse the procedure, picking "Shadow Beast" back up from the dealership and heading home for dinner.

My Mazda dealership has a lovely waiting room while
your car is being serviced. What I like even more, they
have visual feed and constant commentary from the
techs as they are working on your vehicle, and you're
given access to view and listen while they work on your
car. It's extremely comprehensive and a really great
feature.

When I take my car in for servicing, I generally sit around waiting for it. I'm too impatient to do the back-and-forth needed for DH's schedule. He actually could do that too, they have a rather nice waiting room at the dealer, but he'd rather go back and forth. Whatever ... it's a bit of a waste of gas and my time, but it's not horrible unless the weather is bad, and today is dry, and actually quite warm for this time of the year. I'm grateful.

The Toyota dealership's waiting room isn't quite as nice
as my Mazda dealer's room, but it's still pretty nice. It
wouldn't hurt DH to wait for his truck, but he'd rather
drop it off and pick it up tonight. So it'll be two trips
out and back. A waste of gas if you ask me (and I
know, you're actually not asking - LOL).

So, I'm off to do my myriad of things before I can actually get to the shop and start working on whatever he left me from yesterday. I hope you have a terrific day filled with joy, family and friends, maybe a pet or two, and some smiles. Whatever good you feel, please pass it along to someone else and help make their day a bit more special. I'll be back tomorrow.
