Food Allergies Really Suck But Other Things Are Pretty Good

It took me two days to lose the weight I put on eating State Fair foods. So that was/is a very good thing. Unfortunately, the skin allergy issues I got from eating some foods is much slower to go away, so I'm less than happy about that. I'm being extremely careful about what I eat, and I'm going to try to get in touch with my dermatologist (she's very busy, so it's very hard to catch her outside of a formal appointment which I have already scheduled with her for early November). I'll keep trying, though. I really need an in-person consultation for this.

Apparently I've got some sort of food allergy thing going
on, but I need to determine what food is causing this. I got
my test kit on Saturday, immediately stabbed my finger and
after squeezing out a lot of blood, had the test kit completed.
I mailed that back on my way home from the shop Saturday
night. Although the hives are getting slightly better,
they're still not good. I'll try to reach my dermatologist
today via phone or web and try and snag an appointment
with her.

Yesterday DH and I went to the Renaissance Festival, and it was also the first Minnesota Vikings game of the season. In years past, we would gather at the "Vikings" pub, listen to the Court Revelers for an enjoyable 45 minutes, then turn our attention to the large screen and watch the Vikings game. The bar always had a good crowd on hand for the game and did a brisk business serving beer and wine to those watching. This year was different.

The Court Revelers do three shows a day at the Fest - one
at the "Vikings" pub, and two at one of the lower level
pubs. They are an a capella madrigal singing group that
has been working together for many years. Some performers
come and go, but the core of this group have been singing
together since the early 2000's. We enjoy their music and
how well they work together.

The pub now has a different name, a different bartender, and no TV. That was rather disappointing, since we had hoped to watch the game there, but we had walked the Festival grounds twice and felt no guilt about leaving quite early. We left and actually got home shortly after the half-time break, so DH was able to watch the second half of the game in the comfort of home. We had Chipotle chicken burrito bowls for dinner, so that made the entire evening nice and easy for me.

I like Chipotle's Burrito Bowls because I can pick and
choose what I want to eat. In my case it's simple - very
small portions of rice and beans, 1-1/2 portions of
chicken, and shredded lettuce. DH has more stuff on
his bowl, and he said that he's more in a Chipotle mood
these days than he has been for a while. I'm fine with
that. In the realm of "fast food", it's one of the healthier
choices I can make.

The week ahead will be somewhat hectic, but hopefully, by the end of the week, I'll have a working oven. Won't that be a treat? LOL Except for that, there's nothing too much going on. Fall is definitely in the air, the trees are starting to turn color, and the nights are colder. I might have to pull my leather jacket out of the closet for a few short weeks before dropping down to parka cold. *sigh* I love Fall, but it's always too short.

Have an excellent day and please be kind to others. Stay safe, and I'll be back tomorrow.
