Today is a Rest Day in Le Tour - Thoughts On the Young and the Old

Today is a Rest Day for Le Tour de France, but tomorrow we continue our competition through the Pyrenees - so fast racing, high mountains, and thrilling finish lines will abound before we finally ride into Paris on the 18th. Saturday's first Pyrenees stage set the bar high. It was an outstanding ride and the winner, an American originally from Durango, Colorado (now living in Andorra, Spain) was a treat. Kudos to Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma). The young rider made an outstanding ride up and down the steep and narrow roads, beating Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) by less than 30 seconds. It was a race of youth against age, with Sepp being only 26 years of age, and Valverde currently age 41. Magnificent!!!

Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) pull out a spectacular ride
yesterday. The young American from Durango, Colorado
rode into his (current) home town of Andorra, Spain,
less than 30 seconds ahead of Alejandro Valverde, a
brilliant cyclist from Spain, and the oldest rider in
this year's TdF. It was exciting to see the race come
down to the final few seconds.

DH and I spent a fairly lazy day. It was beautiful weather, and we really didn't feel like cooking, so I picked up Chinese for dinner. I always love getting Moo Shu for dinner - I get 3-4 meals out of it. Well worth the cost. DH is happy with his General Tso's chicken, and he also has plenty of extra for the next two days. After more than a year of carry-out and phone orders only, my local Chinese restaurant is opening their dining room once again, starting this week. I'm so happy for them. It's been hard for them to continue operating during the extended shut-down. For months they were limited to a single person in a small alcove either placing orders or picking them up.

I love my Moo Shu chicken. I'm quite sure there's some
sugar in the recipe, but it's minimal, and everything else
in the meal is no problem. Since I'm still releasing weight,
despite these little pushes I'm putting in (one drink on
Sundays and occasional take-out), I'm comfortable. I'm
learning Living WildFit, and I'm liking what I'm learning.

I've been turning this week's prompt from my writing group around in my head, looking at it from every angle. It's a challenging prompt, and nothing is really ringing clearly for me right now. Sometimes the only alternative to contemplation is sitting down at the keyboard and starting to write. I'll have to come at it from that direction, but the question is the angle I'll take. Oh well, the mystery will be resolved soon.

Alejandro Valverde, a legend in the sport of cycling, is the
oldest rider in this year's Tour de France, and will go on
to the Tokyo Olympics after Le Tour is over. It's his
self-proclaimed "swan song" before he retires from a storied
career.

So I'm off and running - literally. Today I allowed myself to get back onto the treadmill. It was so good to be back in sync once again. I'll get nine days of exercise in before my next tattoo session, but then I'll be off the treadmill again for another 10 days or so while I heal from the next ink. Truthfully? I can hardly wait until next week Wednesday. I want to see the wings of my scarab take flight. I hope you have an excellent Monday and start to your week. I'll be back tomorrow to introduce the next stage of Le Tour de France. And, as always, please be kind and stay safe. *hugs*
