My Thoughts Are Filled With Winged Scarab Tattoos - LOL

I'm scheduled for my full scalp tattoo on the 30th, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm (or sooner if I tap out of that session). (Heads up, Aearwen. We'll need to reschedule next week's chat. Just warning you.) Rodney had sent me a mock-up of what he came up with for my tattoo, and I loved it. I shared it on Facebook yesterday and got lots of feedback. I was finally able to connect with DH late yesterday for his feedback, which came in bits and starts, but actually had some good kernels in it. I Emailed Rodney last night with suggested changes and we'll see if he gives me a second drawing or if we wing it a bit more.

This is the original that Rodney sent
to me. I love 99% of it. I adore that he
has all three sets of legs. I wanted a minimum
of two tiers of feathers in the wings too, and
he provided that. Just to remind those who may
not be up on tattoos, the line work goes
down first, then the shading and any color
is added second. DH wants the image
reduced slightly and raised up on the
skull to cover more of the top of my head.
I'm totally in favor of that.

The changes DH suggested were to shrink the image a bit and raise it a bit higher on the bottom of my head. He also wanted more done with the sun disc, and I took that and ran with it, offering up several suggestions for Rodney. I don't want or need a full re-do, but going slightly smaller isn't a bad idea, as long as the wings extend to encompass my skull.

What started everything going was this henna
tattoo I got in 2019. DH liked the top of this
piece better than the solar disk on the current
image. He said it had more going on and was
more visually interesting. He's right. The disk
needs a bit more work. I ran several suggestions
through in my email to Rod. We'll see what he
comes up with. This image is also higher up
on my head, but I love the beetle that Rod did
much better and I don't want the frou-frou
hanging down from the wings or body.

Anyway, if you want to comment to me, I'm open for suggestions, criticisms, queries about how crazy I am to want a skull tattoo, and anything else. Take a look, let me know what you think.

Are you aware of the Topsy-Turvy dolls? Although uncommon,
they existed at least from the mid-1800's onwards, often
featuring a white doll on one end, and a black doll on the
other. It's been speculated that it was originally made for
enslaved black children to play with. That they would
flip the doll to the appropriate skin color depending on who
was in the area. I have no idea, but found the concept
interesting and there were topsy-turvy dolls that dated
into the early 1800's when I took a search. One more
rabbit hole to jump down - LOL.

Of course, now that we're actually into true summer, the temperatures have gone back to Spring temps. It's actually only 50F (10C) right now. Only 10 days ago, it was in the 80's (26C+) at this time of the day, rising into the upper 90's (35C+) during the day. What a difference a few days can make! My strawberries are happy with the rain we've finally been getting, but we still need summer to really get the crops going. It's a topsy-turvy season so far.

My Moo Shu chicken came with two "pancakes"
and plum sauce. I used the pancakes up on
Sunday, but I had some Siete Almond Flour
tortillas in my refrigerator. Perfect for my leftovers
on Monday and again tonight. I'll get three meals
out of my one order, so that's a deal!

So I hope things are going well for each of you. I played things a bit dangerous on Sunday and when DH wanted Chinese food, I acquiesced and had some Moo Shu chicken. I had it on Sunday and again last night and I still have enough for one more meal tonight. I chose it as a good food choice (out of a lot of poor choices) but I'm actually pretty happy with it. I haven't gained, and I've felt fine. It's certainly not massively healthy for me, but it turned out to be a wise food decision and makes me feel better about being able to make good food choices.

So, I'm out of here. Have a truly wonderful Tuesday, be kind, and please stay safe. I'll be back tomorrow.
