Thanks To All and Bring on the Vegetables

I had a great birthday (thanks to so many of you for the wonderful positive wishes), and a relaxed evening. DH gave me money for our "Kick Off the State Fair" tickets, which I passed on to Chickie. Although it was a slow day at the shop, the customers who came in were lots of fun, and some old friends also popped in to shop, so it was a good day. DH gave me a lovely card, but was very disappointed that he couldn't cook for me. I told him we'll celebrate on Sunday when he's planning to grill some steaks. I don't mind late celebrations - late is still lovely.

DH has two sirloin steaks in the freezer for cooking
on the grill on Sunday. We'll celebrate my birthday
then, because ... steak! Nothing much nicer than a
grilled sirloin with green beans and a salad.

Today, of course, is my "day off" and as usual, it's packed full. I need veggies for my next batches of Alkagizer ("Ogre Juice" as DH calls it) and since I'm drinking/eating two of them a day, that's a lot of veggies. An overfull blender gives me four containers worth, a two-day portion. I go through a LOT of vegetables. I think I'll blow off the co-op today and just head right to my grocer. I'm fortunate, my grocer has an outstanding organic and standard produce department. It's rare that I can't find plenty of options.

I'm very fortunate to have a phenomenal produce department
at my neighborhood grocer. Their organic section is wonderful,
and what they don't have as organic is still top quality. Since
I'm relying on quality ingredients in my daily Alkagizers,
it's a relief to be able to get ingredients close to home.

The past two weeks I've set Voodoo up as a tablet to watch the Coach's Call at noon. I've usually had the kitchen full of veggies which I've been in the process of cleaning and packing. I suspect I'll be doing something similar today, although I won't be as far behind since I'm only going to my neighborhood store. I'd better check my spice cabinet. I thought there was something I was really low on, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Voodoo can set up in numerous ways. For the Wednesday
calls, when I've been working in the kitchen, I usually
either tent it or set it up as a tablet. That way I can watch
and listen while I'm working on getting my veggies
cleaned. Sometimes I'll even use the blender - nobody
needs to know I'm busy making lots of noise - LOL.

Between my many errands and my 4:00 pm weekly chat with Aearwen, I'd like to get my knitting machine set back up. I'm wearing my hat to death, and I'd like to make myself another one. they don't take long - less than two hours - but I haven't had the time to deal with it. If I don't have time today, I'll have to push it off until Sunday or even next week. So I'll give it a try, if schedules permit.

This is the style of hat I made for myself as well as for
gifts for friends last Christmas. I wear mine every day, and
it's starting to look a bit worn around the edges. I think
it's time for a new one. It doesn't take a lot of time, it's just
carving out a couple of hours of time to set things up,
get it knitted, and pull it off the machine. I'm just so
busy with so many things right now, time is not my ally.
Maybe Friday, if I can't get to it today.

On that note, I'm out of here. Life with DH seems somewhat back to normal again, we'll see how long that lasts, but I'll take it while I can. As always, please be kind, stay safe and please wear your mask. I'll be back tomorrow.
