Snow Cover - It's a Record Year!

I was rather amazed when the local news had a map of the snow covering the nation last night. It's been quite the storm and Arctic blow that we've been going through. Just take a look at this map of the continental USA. Yeah - that's most of us with some type of snowfall on the ground! Even in the southern states, it's been unusually cold and the weather has been horrible. I'm once again grateful that I live in the Frozen Northlands. We might have to deal with snow and cold, but we know HOW to deal with snow and cold and that makes a difference.

This is the largest snowfall coverage we've ever had in
the Continental USA. It's really quite amazing, as I look
at this map. We've had large snow covers before, even
within the past two years. But never before have we
had a snow cover quite this extensive.

Today's "day off" will be a lot of errands and laundry, because that's what my Wednesdays comprise. I did a knitted swatch for the hat project that I'd like to start, so I might begin that. I also have the sweater and I want to take one more serious look at the sleeves before taking it apart. I may actually need to leave it as it is. I'll look at it with fresh eyes after my morning meditation and see exactly what's going on. Worst comes to worst, I'll leave the sleeves as they are and go ahead and sew it up. It's a first effort. I'm not expecting it to be perfect, and it might be just off enough to actually represent me very well.

Compare the map above to this one. This is the snow
depth map, and as you can tell, the major depth is in
the central part of the US, as I would expect, with
deeper amounts in the mountains of Colorado, Utah,
Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Should be some great
skiing on the Western slopes, and it looks like
California's mountains also got some good snow.

I'm basically unsure about exactly what personal project I'm going to work on today, but I'm quite sure I'll figure something out. I don't have a lack of projects I want to do, I just need to get my mind to settle down long enough to choose one. I also want to stay in the lower part of the house because it's warmer than the upper levels. I just took a quick break to take the trash buckets to the curb, and yes, I can state with conviction, it's still VERY cold outside.

Happy Hump Day to all. It's one of my favorite days
of the week, so I'm spreading the love today! LOL

So as we begin our "Hump Day", I'm going to hope that all of my friends and readers stay warm, cozy and safe today. Don't forget to be kind, stay safe and wear your mask, and maybe, if you have an opportunity, do something kind for a stranger today. We can all use a little love these days. I'll be back tomorrow.
