Looking At The Last Few Days of 2020 - Thank Goodness!

Two swipes from the end of clearing the side roof, the snow rake died. It's not uncommon, we've gone through several over the years, but this time, when we tried to find another replacement, they were a discontinued item, and totally unavailable in our state. So, after much complaint, DH chose a different style and today he'll drop stuff off at the shop, then head over to Menard's to get a new rake.

DH will be trying to pick up this
snow rake. We have lots of spare
handle pieces from older versions,
so will be able to get the length we need.
It's not identical to what we had for
years, but it will have to do.

He also has been having problems with the snow blower again. After trying for two days to get it started, he finally admitted that he needed to take it in for more serious work. That entailed him finally getting the ramps I had "given" him for Christmas 2019 ordered. (Meaning, he chose what he wanted and I ordered them for him.) Of course, the latest information is that they will be delivered on the 31st at the shop and we're closed that day. So, I'll have to forestall the shipment in some fashion and get it delivered on the Monday following, instead. What a mess.

He decided on these ramps for his truck. They
should work just fine. Once we get them, I'll
help him load the snow blower and he can drive
it over and get it repaired. The last time we had
to repair it was five years ago, and it probably
needs a good engine cleaning.

Still, today is the final week of a really crappy year, and I just want to see it over and done with. I'm tired of all of the restrictions and of COVID in general. I'm tired of not being able to hug my long-time customers, or having to be concerned with how many customers are in the store and sanitizing EVERYTHING after they leave. I want to interact with my customers without a plexiglass barrier between us. But ... I have to keep the protocols in place - they're what's keeping all of us healthy, our doors open to our customers, and putting food on our tables.

We had a lovely 2-bone prime rib for Christmas dinner. I
always get a little nervous cooking something so
expensive, but it turned out perfect for DH (very rare) and
I can easily cook mine a bit more in the microwave to
get it to the medium cook that I prefer.

So, as we go into our 3-Day sale today, I'll be diligent because I have to be, both for my staff and for my customers. It won't be as much fun, but we'll persevere, and maybe we'll knock this virus out of the park and be able to resume "normal" lives by this time next year. Have a wonderful Monday, be kind, stay safe, and please wear your masks. I'll be back tomorrow.
