Bravo TV announced their changes and upcoming format for Project Runway, Season 18 yesterday. Since I'm a Project Runway fangirl, I thought I'd share with all of you who might (or might not) be interested, because there are some interesting changes from Season 17.

First - the judges and hosts remain the same. Karlie Kloss will still host, and Christian Siriano will still mentor (yippee!), AND he's getting a "Siriano Save" this season, similar to the "Tim Gunn Save" of the Lifetime series. He will now be able to offer after-elimination immunity to a single contestant. That's something I'm delighted about. Christian makes an outstanding mentor, and giving him the opportunity to save one contestant for another week of competition could be a game-changer.

Judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth and Brandon Maxwell will also be back. I loved the increased interaction between these judges, and the fact that they would comment while fashions were still walking the Runway. Not holding back on their opinions, open and outspoken, they were an excellent and somewhat surprising panel of judges.

Episodes will still be 90 minutes, but everything will be scheduled a bit later - 9:30 pm EST - and that time will hold for the entire season. This means you'll probably be getting my reports a day later. I still get up at 3:15 am, and pushing my bedtime out an hour on Thursday nights will make for a very tired Friday morning. You may get your PR breakdown on Saturdays instead of Friday because I may allow myself an extra bit of sleep instead with a really short blog post for those Fridays.

Season 18 Designer - Alan Gonzalez, Houston TX |

Season 18 Designer - Sergio Guadarrama, New York, NY |
The final Runway will be held at New York Fashion Week. This is something that was needed - I think the contestants really benefit from that added exposure, but it also adds to the pressure on the designers, so that'll be rough. Still, it's a good move.

Season 18 Designer - Dayoung Kim, Seoul, Korea |

Season 18 Designer - Shavi Lewis, Newark, NJ |
The models will continue to be diverse - the blurb states they will be "featuring a variety of sexual preferences (just a bad word choice here, Bravo - just saying - sexuality is not a preference), racial backgrounds and ages, including a nonbinary model, a trans model, and a 'Dreamer'. The contestants will also be diverse with one contestant being the "oldest designer ever to compete on Project Runway".

Season 18 Designer - Geoffrey Mac, Brooklyn NY |

Season 18 Designer - Delvin McCray, Chicago IL |
They'll come out of the gates running, with the very first challenge being a team challenge with a partner who is totally new and unknown. That's starting the season with a bang. So mark it on your calendars - Project Runway, Season 19, begins December 5th.

Chickie is taking vacation until Wednesday, so I'll be working extra hard at the shop and DH will have to be in the shop for four working days in a row. That might be a disaster, but it also could be a really good thing. Guess I'll find out - LOL. Have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday.
