Sharing Pics - Photos From Last Weekend

Today is my "day off" and it's setting up to be a busy day (as usual). I thought I might share some photos instead of writing something more earthshaking. The fungi below are from my backyard wood storage, the bottom two photos were from the Renaissance Faire this past weekend. So ... here we go.

This lovely, large mushroom, decided an old lichen-covered pine
log would be a perfect home. I love the coloring of the mushroom.
It's actually quite large, at least three inches across the top.

Here's a look from on top. The golden colors heading into a brassy
bronze really please my color-sense. It's a perfect fall palette.

A bit farther along in the same bank of stored logs was this
delightful cluster of a different type of fungi. I'm no mushroom
expert, but I am quite pleased that I'm getting a variety instead
of just a single type.

One of the attractions at our Renaissance Faire is a large Petting Zoo with
a variety of unusual animals (llamas, lemurs, aftical porcupines, four-horned
sheep and kangaroos) and more domestic animals (goats and geese). In
one of the pens were these two - obviously friends and also quite
obviously a bit tired. The emu on the left is young and is huddled next
to his best buddy, a capybara. It's an unusual combination and friendship.

Many years ago we had a group of 4-6 men who were regular members of
the Court and dressed as "fops" in beautiful brocade with dripping lace
and ornate codpieces. The wigs were always spectacular. The group disbanded
several years ago, but this particular fop usually will attend in full
costume for at least one weekend every year. He's quite lovely, so I
thought I would share him with all of you.

So, there you have it. Short, sweet, easy to skim, and rather perfect timing on my part. Now I'm going to get moving on my errands for the day, and then back to cleaning and organizing. I have three boxes in my computer room that I want to go through. Maybe I'll find my cutting dies in one of them. That would make me very happy. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I'll be back tomorrow.
