Winter Sunrise Photos Because I Can't Sleep

I couldn't sleep today - awakened at 2:30 am when I could have slept until 4:00 am - so I'm not functioning at a high level and I'll wilt like a hot-house flower in the cold today. We're heading into a weekend of wicked cold temps and anywhere from 3"-10" of snow over the next 36 hours, so it's not a great time to have my brain in a sling. I'm just going to find some pretty pictures to share with all of you and try to get another hour or so of sleep. Have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday.

For many years I lived in the flatlands and desert areas of the
American Southwest. Our sunrises in that area resembled
this one - lots of open space and the horizon stretching out
forever.

I live in the Frozen Northlands now, and the topography is
still minimal, but the weather is much more intense. Here
is a sunrise over snow and water to reflect beauty in your day.

Up here we have large forests of evergreens as we head to
the north. Here is a winter sunrise through the evergreen
trees.

I'll wrap up with sunrise at one of my favorite places - Maroon
Bells, near Aspen, Colorado. Of course "near" is relative - it's
still quite the drive into the mountains from the town, but
it's such an amazing place.

So, I'm going to try for 45 minutes more sleep. I'll be back on Monday. Have a great weekend.
