Busy Day, Busy Week and I've got 30 Minutes!

I've got 30 minutes before waking DH for an appointment which will start off one of my busiest weeks in the year. But I still have this small island of calm to get my thoughts together and share with you, my friends in cyber-ville. Yesterday's Renaissance Festival opening was great fun, but the clouds turned to intermittent bouts of hard rain mixed with sun and finally, about 3:15 or so, we called it quits, walked down the impossibly long pathway back to the car, and headed home. As it turned out, it was a good decision because severe storms piled up in that part of the city along with thunder and numerous lightning strikes - always a difficult thing when out in an area without a lot of shelter options.

Shelter in the Storm - this seemed like a good way to start. And, to
end everything with a bang today, I've got an amazing you-tube link
to a dancing phenom at the end of today's post.

Storms - it seems like a good idea for some quick photos today, so let's see what I can find.

Storms aren't always rain and thunder. Here's a dust storm
in Oregon. Time to jump into a storm shelter!

Super cells are among the most frightening and most beautiful of all
cloud formations. This super cell in Canada would have me running for
shelter, even as I turned to look at the amazing beauty.

Storm shelters can save lives. In areas where windstorms and tornadoes are
common, small storm shelters are becoming more common and more people
are living through devastating storms by using them. I fear my own
claustrophobia would make them nearly impossible for me, but there are
people who owe their lives to these small rooms.

The desert and high plateau areas of the dry Southwest US have Anasazi
ruins scattered throughout. These sheltered cities under the rocks protected
the people from animals, enemies and the serious cloudbursts that take
place every summer. In times of water the cliff face would be like a waterfall
in places, with the people living behind the flow.

And here, as promised, a link to a You-tube video that had me amazed. Les Twins are a French duo of dancers, here performing in the finals of the 2012 Hip Hop contest. They have a lot of videos on You Tube, but this was the one I watched and I thought it was quite spectacular. Enjoy the video and enjoy your day. Happy Monday!
