Yesterday was a slow day at the shop. This is not good in terms of actual dollars collected - like many businesses out there, we could use more money in the coffer and we're going to be cutting every extraneous cost that we can over the next few months. But it was great in terms of being able to spend time working on the bench. I got my setting disks refined, shaped, polished and stamped. The final thing I did before shutting down for the day was to place one of the enameled disks into it's setting disk. I'm REALLY happy with how things are turning out on this project for my DH. I'm putting a lot of work, and even more thought, into the project and it's turning out. Today I'll set the two disks, LOS the stamped lettering, and start setting the rivets. That's the nerve-wracking time for me - rivets often don't work great for me. I'll just have to remember to take my time and not rush each hammer stroke. Then I need to figure out exactly how I want the panels to suspend on the neckpiece so that it won't flip, but will stay facing the correct direction. I also need to sign it, but that will be a bit harder to do.

Today is also the last day for my enamel items for the holidays. So I'll actually be spending most of the day at the kiln doing the patterns over the disks that I prepped last week. I love it when I can spend time on my enamel work. Having the kiln here at home is wonderfully freeing. One of these days I'll own a second kiln and then I can have one in each studio, OR I'll be retired, only have one studio, and everything will be in reach for my play time. Either way, I'm as happy as an 8-year-old who has been given free reign to play in the park for the afternoon. Just visualize me heading for the merry-go-round with my stuffed bear hanging from my left hand :-)
